Research Interests
Pathways involved in synaptic failure in prion neurodegeneration
My project aims to define the molecular mechanisms in the evolution of neurotoxic processes in neurodegeneration. I am using prion infected mice and analyzing the pathways involved in earliest changes in structure and function at the synaptic level, and the mechanisms involved in the progression of these to neuronal cell death. I am using morphological, biochemical and behavioural techniques as well as high throughput screens and electrophyioslogical measurements.
