Research Interests

Synaptic repair processes in neurodegeneration

My project is focused on defining repair mechanisms in synaptic plasticity and how these are affected in neurodegeneration.  I have found impairment in the capacity of synapses to reassembled in various models of neurodegenerative disease under specific stress conditions, long before degenerative changes or cognitive symptoms occur. I am characterizing the pathways involved in this process, using biochemical and imaging techniques, high throughput screening approaches and phosphoproteomics, as well as behavioural readouts.
